Start by downloading the sample configuration file to a directory on your computer.
Start the long-run equilibrium market software Server.
After the server has been started, go to File -> Open and navigate to the location of the MarketLink configuration file that you downloaded. Select the file and click Open to load the file. Most settings in the file are ready for use, but we recommend that you reset the time in the Trading input box to 3:00 minutes. The configuration has been set up for 12 clients. We recommend that you use an even number of clients between 4 and 12 until you are familiar enough with MarketLink to edit a configuration file.
Click on the Run Experiment button at the bottom of the MarketLink Setup screen. Enter a session name and a session log. Click on advance options and enter a four digit number (e.g., 1000) in the Port Number input box.
Click on Start Server. The Server is now ready for Client connections. At the top right of the screen, the Host IP address (and port number) appear. To make Client connections, the IP and Port number will be needed. The experimenter can start the Client software and input this address in each Client before subjects arrive or the subjects can be directed to start the Client software and input the address.
Start one instance of the long-run equilibrium market Client software for each subject. Enter the IP address and Port Number just as it appears on the upper right corner of the Server (including the colon between IP and Port Number). Enter a unique subject name or code for each Client.
Once all clients are set up, click on Start Session. The session is now underway.
