He will also serve as a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar and as director of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/excenweb.gsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Experimental Economics Center<\/a>&nbsp;(ExCEN) in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. Noussair will hold the Langdale Chair beginning in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Noussair is an internationally recognized leader in experimental and behavioral economics whose research has shaped the field\u2019s understanding of asset markets, cooperation, behavior under risk and neuroeconomics. He joins Georgia State from the University of Arizona, where he is the Eller Professor of Economics and director of the Economic Science Laboratory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With over 150 scholarly publications and more than 11,000 citations, Noussair\u2019s work has appeared in many of the field\u2019s most influential journals, including American Economic Review, Econometrica and Journal of Political Economy. His research is widely known for advancing both economic theory and real-world policy discussions through innovative experimental methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to his scholarly contributions, Noussair brings a distinguished record of academic leadership. He recently completed his term as president of the Economic Science Association and has held senior editorial roles at leading journals, including as editor of Experimental Economics. His service has helped shape the direction of the field and strengthen connections among economics, psychology and neuroscience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Georgia State, Noussair will join the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/aysps.gsu.edu\/economics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Economics<\/a>&nbsp;as a tenured full professor and will serve as director of ExCEN. He succeeds James C. Cox, the founding director of the center, who retired in 2025 after a highly impactful career in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/aysps.gsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Andrew Young School of Policy Studies<\/a>. Under Cox\u2019s leadership, ExCEN has become one of the nation\u2019s premier centers for experimental economics research and graduate training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDr. Noussair is one of the world\u2019s leading experimental economists, and his appointment as Langdale Chair reflects Georgia State\u2019s commitment to research excellence with real policy relevance,\u201d said Thomas J. Vicino, dean of the Andrew Young School. \u201cHis scholarship, leadership and vision will strengthen the Department of Economics, expand opportunities for our students and enhance the school\u2019s impact on pressing economic and social challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his new role, Noussair is expected to build on that strong foundation by expanding the university\u2019s capacity for high-impact experimental research, supporting doctoral training and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are thrilled to welcome Charles Noussair to Georgia State this fall,\u201d said James H. Noussair\u2019s research on asset pricing, economic cooperation and risk preferences closely aligns with that mission and positions Georgia State to further elevate its national and international research profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am looking forward to starting my new position at Georgia State,\u201d Noussair said. \u201cIt is an honor to be associated with ExCEN, one of the world\u2019s premier experimental economics laboratories, and with the Andrew Young School.
